Eastern Mennonite University sits on a 97-acre campus in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, located in the city of Harrisonburg approximately two hours from Washington, D.C. Founded in 1917 as a Mennonite institution, EMU maintains its connection to the Mennonite Church USA while welcoming students of all faiths. The university operates as a private liberal arts institution, offering undergraduate programs with particular strengths in nursing, education, business, and peacebuilding studies, including its notable Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at the graduate level.
