Bluefield University (formerly Bluefield College) is a private Baptist institution located in Bluefield, Virginia, situated in the Appalachian Mountains near the Virginia-West Virginia border. Founded in 1922 by the Baptist General Association of Virginia, the institution operates from a 82-acre residential campus characterized by its hilltop setting and traditional brick buildings. The university offers undergraduate programs with particular emphasis in business, education, criminal justice, and nursing, alongside several online degree completion programs for adult learners. Residential students are housed in one of four campus dormitories, and the institution competes in NAIA athletics as the Rams, participating in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. In 2020, the institution formally transitioned from college to university status to reflect its expanded academic offerings.
