Student and Parent Reviews

If you are a student, former student, faculty member or parent, please help guide other prospective students by sharing your personal experiences at this college. What is it really like to go to Averett University?

If you are thinking about attending Averett University, DO NOT! I think that all of the admissions staff used to sell used cars. I was told what wonderful institution of higher education Averett was and I was lied to about everything! I spent one miserable year there. Bad food, mold in the dorm, and professors who just did not care in the least. The school has sold everything of value and may go bankrupt at anytime. Find another place to attend!

Averett University is on the verge of bankruptcy! They have sold everything but the books in the library. I only attended two years and transferred out. Think about what will happen to you if Averett goes out of business and you have not graduated.

I transferred to Averett University after graduation from a community college. If I had to do it all over again, I would have gone elsewhere! Now the school is in the news for their financial problems. Not surprising considering how much money is put into the football program.

Averett University just eliminated five majors and that is just the start. The school has financial problems and may not be around in another four years! Something to consider when applying here. Maintenance of the dorms has been put off for years. Find another place to attend!

Excellent place to get your BA/BS in education, computer science, math or aeronautics. Classes are the right size and school is flexible enough to help you out if you have a legitimate problem (like being sick during mid-terms). AU is fully accredited and has about a 60% acceptance rate... it's not the Ivy League but there are a surprising number of resources once you get on campus. There is about a 50/50 mix of adults and high school kids. There are also exceptional programs for IT and CS people. Gladly recommend Averett. They are well known for their Master of Ed and Autism Research departments.
