Wharton County Junior College (WCJC) is a public, two-year institution of higher education located in Wharton, Texas, approximately 60 miles southwest of Houston. Established in 1946, this community college serves students from four counties with its main campus in Wharton and additional campuses in Sugar Land, Richmond, and Bay City. The college environment fosters an intimate campus setting, primarily serving local commuter students, with housing options available for students who wish to live on the Wharton campus. WCJC offers a range of academic programs, with a noted emphasis on associate degrees in the arts and sciences, as well as applied-science programs and certificates in areas like health professions, which remain among the most pursued offerings.
