Southwest College for the Deaf

Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf (SWCID), located in Big Spring, Texas, operates as a specialized satellite campus of Howard College dedicated exclusively to deaf and hard-of-hearing students. The campus, situated in west Texas approximately 40 miles east of Midland, features purpose-built facilities designed to serve the deaf community, including classrooms equipped with visual communication technology and specialized residential halls. As the only community college for the deaf in the western United States, SWCID provides associate degree programs and certificates with instruction conducted in American Sign Language (ASL).
