Lon Morris College, located in Jacksonville, Texas, approximately two hours southeast of Dallas, was a private two-year liberal arts institution that held the distinction of being the oldest junior college in the state, founded in 1854. Often characterized by its small class sizes and its picturesque campus which featured a blend of traditional and modern architecture, the college presented a focused academic environment set within a quiet, residential area. The college provided on-campus housing options for students opting to immerse themselves in college life fully. While Lon Morris College offered a range of programs, it was recognized particularly for its strong performing arts curriculum before it ceased operations. The institution maintained an open admissions policy, attracting a diverse student body. Notable for its historically competitive athletic programs, the Lon Morris Bearcats competed in the NJCAA, though athletics were disbanded prior to the school's closure. After facing financial difficulties, Lon Morris College filed for bankruptcy and subsequently closed in 2012.

Lon Morris College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  529 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 23 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $13,000 plus fees of $2,160.
