Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT), located in Beaumont, Texas, approximately 85 miles east of Houston, is a public technical college specializing in hands-on, career-focused education. Established in 1995 as an independent member of the Texas State University System, LIT features an open-admissions policy, providing accessibility to a diverse student population. The institute is primarily a commuter college with no on-campus housing options. LIT's academic offerings are concentrated in fields of allied health, sciences, engineering technologies, and technical studies with specific renowned programs such as process operating and instrumentation technology.
