Tennessee State University, a public historically Black university founded in 1912, occupies a main campus in northwestern Nashville, Tennessee, approximately three miles from the city's downtown district. The 500-acre campus features a mix of historic and modern buildings, including several structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
