Northeast State Community College is located in Blountville, Tennessee, situated in the Tri-Cities region near the borders of Virginia and North Carolina. The main campus spans 155 acres in Sullivan County, approximately 10 miles north of Johnson City, and operates additional teaching sites throughout the region including facilities in Elizabethton, Gray, and Kingsport. Founded in 1966 as Tri-Cities State Area Vocational-Technical School, the institution gained community college status in 1990 and now offers associate degrees, certificates, and workforce development programs with particular emphasis in technical education, health-related programs, and business technology. The college maintains an open admission policy while serving a five-county service area in northeast Tennessee, and provides students access to modern technical facilities and laboratories designed for hands-on career training.
