Penn State Hazleton, a commonwealth campus of The Pennsylvania State University system, is situated on 125 acres in the Pocono Mountains near Hazleton, Pennsylvania, approximately 30 miles southwest of Wilkes-Barre. The campus features a blend of modern academic buildings and historic structures, including the original Butler Teaching Building constructed in 1939 when the campus was established. Penn State Hazleton offers associate and bachelor's degree programs, with notable strengths in engineering, business, and information sciences. The residential campus maintains four student housing complexes and serves both commuter and residential students from northeastern Pennsylvania.
