East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania sits in the Pocono Mountains region of northeastern Pennsylvania, approximately 75 miles from both New York City and Philadelphia. The 258-acre campus combines traditional collegiate architecture with modern facilities, centered in the borough of East Stroudsburg. Founded in 1893 as a normal school for teacher training, ESU has evolved into a comprehensive public university within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university maintains strong programs in education, exercise science, and business management, while also housing the only marine science program in Pennsylvania. Traditional residence halls and suite-style housing accommodate on-campus students, and the Warriors compete in NCAA Division II athletics, with notable programs in field hockey and football.
