Western Oklahoma State College

Western Oklahoma State College is a public two-year institution located in Altus, Oklahoma, approximately 140 miles southwest of Oklahoma City in the state's agricultural region. The campus occupies 50 acres and features modern classroom buildings alongside technical training facilities. Established in 1926 as Altus Junior College, the institution became Western Oklahoma State College in 1974 and serves as the primary higher education access point for several surrounding rural counties. The college offers associate degrees and certificates in areas including nursing, business, agriculture, and aviation, with transfer agreements to multiple four-year Oklahoma universities. Students have access to on-campus housing in the newly renovated Wingspan Housing Complex, which accommodates approximately 100 residents.
