Oklahoma Panhandle State University sits in the rural community of Goodwell, located in the western Oklahoma panhandle region. The campus occupies 120 acres in Texas County, positioned approximately 270 miles northwest of Oklahoma City. Originally established in 1909 as Pan-Handle Agricultural Institute, the institution has evolved to offer four-year degrees with particular emphasis on agriculture, business, nursing, and industrial technology programs. The university maintains traditional residence halls and apartment-style housing for students, serving a predominantly regional student population from Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Colorado, and New Mexico. As a member of the Sooner Athletic Conference, OPSU fields NCAA Division II athletic teams known as the Aggies.
