Carl Albert State College

Carl Albert State College is a public two-year institution located in Poteau, Oklahoma, situated in the Ouachita Mountains of southeastern Oklahoma, approximately 25 miles from Fort Smith, Arkansas. The main campus spans 134 acres at the foot of Cavanal Hill, featuring a mix of modern and traditional academic buildings along with student residential facilities that house up to 168 students. Founded in 1933 as Poteau Junior College, the institution was renamed in 1971 to honor U.S. Speaker of the House Carl Albert, a prominent Oklahoma political figure. The college maintains a secondary campus in Sallisaw and offers associate degrees in various fields, with notable programs in nursing, business administration, and computer technology. CASC provides open admission to ensure educational access for the region's students, while maintaining transfer agreements with multiple four-year institutions across Oklahoma and Arkansas.
