Xavier University, positioned in the residential neighborhood of Evanston in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a private Jesuit institution founded in 1831, making it one of the oldest Catholic universities in the nation. The campus is characterized by a blend of traditional and modern architecture that includes on-campus housing options for students. Academically, Xavier is known for its strong programs in business and nursing, as well as for its liberal arts curriculum. The university has a moderately selective admissions process. The college's urban setting provides students with access to the cultural and professional opportunities of the nearby metropolitan area of Cincinnati. Though Xavier fields a variety of NCAA Division I athletic teams known as the Musketeers, it is particularly recognized for its men's basketball program.
