Shawnee State University

Shawnee State University is located in Portsmouth, Ohio, along the banks of the Ohio River, approximately 90 miles south of Columbus. The public institution, established in 1986, evolved from the Scioto Technical College and Shawnee State Community College to become a four-year university. The 62-acre riverside campus features modern academic buildings and residential facilities where students can live on campus in traditional residence halls. The university maintains a focus on career-oriented programs, with notable strengths in digital gaming and simulation, health sciences, and business, while operating as an open-admission institution for Ohio residents.
