Kenyon College, situated in the rural village of Gambier, Ohio, approximately 45 miles northeast of Columbus, is a private liberal arts institution established in 1824 by Episcopal Bishop Philander Chase. The 1,000-acre campus is noted for its Gothic architecture, particularly its iconic centerpiece, the Middle Path, a mile-long gravel walkway that connects the north and south ends of campus. The college maintains a selective admission process and is recognized for its English and creative writing programs, which have produced multiple notable authors and poets. Kenyon operates under a residential learning model where students are required to live on campus all four years in either historic dormitories or apartment-style housing, and the campus includes the Brown Family Environmental Center, a 480-acre preserve used for ecological research and education. The Kenyon Lords and Ladies compete in NCAA Division III athletics as members of the North Coast Athletic Conference.
