Turtle Mountain Community College

Turtle Mountain Community College (TMCC) is a tribal college located in Belcourt, North Dakota, within the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians Reservation. The campus consists of modern academic buildings and facilities spread across a rural setting approximately 100 miles northwest of Grand Forks. Founded in 1972, TMCC was established to provide higher education opportunities for tribal members and area residents, with a focus on preserving Ojibwe culture and language. The college offers associate degrees and certificate programs, with particular emphasis on Native American studies, business administration, elementary education, and vocational training. Students have access to on-campus resources including a library, computer labs, and cultural learning spaces designed to support both traditional academics and Indigenous knowledge systems.
