Richmond Community College is a two-year public institution located in Hamlet, North Carolina, approximately 90 miles from Charlotte. Established in 1964, the college serves as a post-secondary education and training center for the residents of Richmond and Scotland counties, and beyond. Primarily focused on vocational and technical education, Richmond Community College offers a variety of associate degree programs, certificates, and diplomas, particularly noted for specialties in nursing, manufacturing, and industrial technology. Its open admissions policy contributes to a non-competitive application process, aimed at providing broad access to higher education. The campus environment is characterized by a modern architectural style and suburban setting, with facilities designed to support its technical programs. While primarily a commuter campus with no on-campus student housing, the college facilitates educational and training services tailored to workforce development and personal enrichment of its student population. Richmond Community College does not have a significant athletic program; instead, it emphasizes academic and technical preparation for immediate employment or transition to four-year institutions.

Richmond Community College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  654 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 1,636 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $2,432 plus fees of $104.
