Mitchell Community College serves the greater Statesville area in North Carolina's Piedmont region, approximately 40 miles north of Charlotte. The institution's main campus occupies several historic buildings in downtown Statesville, including the neoclassical Main Building constructed in 1856, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally established as Concord Female Seminary in 1852, Mitchell transitioned to a junior college in 1924 and later became a comprehensive community college serving Iredell County. The college offers associate degrees, technical programs, and workforce development courses, with notable programs in nursing, business administration, and advanced manufacturing technology. Mitchell Community College maintains a second campus location in Mooresville to serve the southern portion of Iredell County.
