Union College, located in Schenectady, New York, approximately 20 miles northwest of Albany, is a private liberal arts institution established in 1795 as the first college chartered by the New York State Board of Regents. The 120-acre campus features a blend of historic and modern facilities, including the distinctive Nott Memorial, a 16-sided Victorian Gothic structure that serves as the college's architectural centerpiece. As one of the earliest adopters of engineering education in a liberal arts setting, Union College maintains strong programs in engineering, science, and social sciences while operating on a trimester academic calendar. The college provides residential housing for most of its undergraduate population across eight residence halls and several themed houses, with first-year students required to live on campus. Union competes in NCAA Division III athletics as the Dutchmen and Dutchwomen, maintaining traditional rivalries within the Liberty League conference.
