Student and Parent Reviews

If you are a student, former student, faculty member or parent, please help guide other prospective students by sharing your personal experiences at this college. What is it really like to go to Hofstra University?

Hofstra is a Long Island university that appeals to spoiled, arrogant, self-entitled, annoying, vacuous and vapid brats. The classes are nowhere near as rigorous as other highly reputed colleges and universities and it is extremely expensive for what you get out of it. The faculty can be very hit or miss and the administration is interested in only one thing and that is taking your money and as much of it as they can. Do NOT be taken in by Hofstra's marketing literature and campaigns! There is a reason it is ranked in a tie for 160th in national universities. That means its peer universities don't think much of it. I am an alumnus who used to help recruit for Hofstra in a program called HART and after being removed from the program the year after I was its Alumni recruiter of the year, I started seeing Hofstra without my rose-colored glasses and realized I could no longer recommend my own alma mater. In the years since, I've done all I can to convince prospective students and their parents to look elsewhere. Hofstra is a waste of your time, talents and money.

Coming to Hofstra was by far one of the best decisions I have ever made! The campus vibe is everything that I was looking for in a college, and I could not be happier here. I have made amazing friends that will last a lifetime, and the professors are some of the best that I've ever encountered. One of them is actually currently in the process of helping me get my first internship! They're all so interested & invested in your success, and that was something that I was really looking for in a college. You're not just another name or face, and that itself is extremely helpful when trying to figure out what you want to do after college. Not only that, but the fact that it's only 30 minutes from the city by train is AMAZING! I would strongly recommend Hofstra to anybody who is looking for a great education, while at the same time ready to have experiences & friends that will last a lifetime.
