Located in central New York's Mohawk Valley, Herkimer County Community College sits on a 500-acre suburban campus in the village of Herkimer, approximately 15 miles east of Utica. The public two-year college, established in 1966, operates primarily from a main campus complex constructed in a contemporary architectural style. Herkimer College offers over 40 associate degree and certificate programs, with notable strengths in criminal justice, radio-television broadcasting, and physical therapy assistant programs. The campus includes modern residence halls housing approximately 600 students, making it one of the few community colleges in New York state to offer on-campus housing. As members of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), the Herkimer Generals compete in Division III athletics and have earned multiple national championships in men's soccer and baseball.
