The Culinary Institute of America's main campus occupies a former Jesuit seminary overlooking the Hudson River in Hyde Park, New York, approximately 90 miles north of New York City. Established in 1946 and relocated to its current location in 1972, the CIA is recognized as a leading culinary education institution, offering associate and bachelor's degrees in culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, and food business management. The 170-acre campus features multiple professional kitchens, student-operated restaurants open to the public, specialized baking and pastry facilities, and the American Bounty Restaurant, which emphasizes farm-to-table cuisine. Students are required to live on campus during their first year and complete externships at approved food service operations as part of their degree requirements. The campus maintains five student residence halls and hosts specialized facilities including the Marriott Pavilion, which contains a 800-seat theater for food demonstrations and events.
