The University of New Mexico-Main Campus (UNM) is a public research institution established in 1889, situated in Albuquerque, approximately 60 miles southwest of Santa Fe. Its sprawling campus is noted for featuring Pueblo Revival architectural style, which complements the surrounding New Mexico landscape. UNM offers an array of academic programs, with notably strong departments in engineering, business, and the health sciences. Housing is provided on campus, with several residence halls and apartment complexes catering to the student body. The university has a moderately selective application process. UNM is part of the NCAA Division I Mountain West Conference, with the Lobos having gained recognition in sports such as football and basketball.
