Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) is a public institution located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. Situated at the edge of the Loring Park neighborhood, its urban setting provides students with a vibrant backdrop that complements the college?s diverse and inclusive atmosphere. Founded in 1996 through the merger of Minneapolis Community College and Minneapolis Technical College, MCTC offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs with an emphasis on liberal arts, career, and technical education. The college is particularly recognized for its strong programs in nursing, cinema, and the culinary arts. MCTC maintains an open admissions policy, allowing for a generally accessible educational environment to a wide range of students. While the college does not provide on-campus housing, its metropolitan location affords students numerous off-campus housing options in the surrounding city. MCTC does not heavily emphasize athletics, focusing instead on academic and technical training designed to either prepare students for immediate entry into the workforce or for transfer to four-year institutions.

Minneapolis Community and Technical College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  1,825 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 4,205 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $5,264 plus fees of $834.
