Olivet College, established in 1844 as one of Michigan's first institutions of higher learning, is situated in the small town of Olivet, approximately 30 miles southwest of Lansing. The private liberal arts college occupies a 250-acre rural campus characterized by its mix of historic red-brick buildings and modern facilities. Operating under its "Education for Individual and Social Responsibility" mission, Olivet maintains small class sizes and offers undergraduate programs with particular emphasis in business, insurance studies, education, and natural sciences. The college participates in NCAA Division III athletics as the Comets, competing in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), and requires all full-time undergraduate students to live on campus unless they meet specific exemption criteria.
