University of Maryland, Baltimore

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is located in downtown Baltimore's west side, occupying 71 acres within the city's historic district. Founded in 1807 as the Maryland College of Medicine, UMB stands as Maryland's only public health, law, and human services university and operates as the founding campus of the University System of Maryland. The campus consists of a mix of historic and modern buildings, including the notable Davidge Hall, the oldest medical facility in continuous use in the Western Hemisphere. UMB is primarily focused on graduate and professional education through its seven schools, including nationally recognized programs in medicine, law, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and social work. While the university does not provide undergraduate housing, its location offers students access to Baltimore's medical institutions, legal centers, and biomedical research facilities.
