Northern Maine Community College (NMCC) is located in Presque Isle, the commercial center of Aroostook County, approximately 320 miles north of Portland, Maine. The campus occupies 87 acres in a rural setting and consists of modern classroom buildings, technical facilities, and residential halls for on-campus student housing. Established in 1961 as Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, NMCC now offers career-focused associate degrees and certificate programs, with particular emphasis on nursing, trade and technical programs, and business technology. The college maintains strong connections with local industries and provides hands-on training facilities, including specialized labs for wind power technology, diesel hydraulics, and precision metals manufacturing. Students can participate in intercollegiate athletics through the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), with the college fielding teams in basketball and cross-country running.
