Colby College, established in 1813, is a private liberal arts college located in Waterville, Maine, about 78 miles north of Portland. The college's rural, 714-acre campus is noted for its Georgian Revival architecture and a significant percentage of the student body lives on campus across 26 residence halls. Known for its rigorous academic programs, Colby offers a range of majors, with particular strengths in Environmental Science and Policy, International Studies, and Government. Its academic environment is characterized by a low student-to-faculty ratio and a selective admissions process. Though not predominantly known for its athletics, Colby competes in the NCAA Division III as the Mules, with a variety of sports offered to students.
