Brescia University is a Catholic liberal arts institution located in Owensboro, Kentucky, positioned along the Ohio River approximately 100 miles southwest of Louisville. The campus occupies 48 acres in a residential area of Owensboro and features a mix of historic and modern academic buildings. Founded in 1950 by the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph, Brescia evolved from a women's junior college to a coeducational university offering associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees. The university maintains small class sizes and focuses on professional programs including business, education, social work, and theology, while also offering traditional liberal arts majors. Students can choose between several residence halls for on-campus housing, and the university competes in the NAIA River States Conference as the Bearcats.
