Washburn University, located in the capital city of Topeka, Kansas, occupies a 160-acre urban campus characterized by a mix of historic and modern buildings. Founded in 1865 as Lincoln College by members of the Congregational Church, the institution was renamed to honor benefactor Ichabod Washburn and later became a municipal university.
