Marian University is situated on a 200-acre campus in Indianapolis, Indiana, approximately five miles northwest of the city's downtown district. The Catholic institution, founded in 1937 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Oldenburg, operates as a liberal arts university with a notable focus on healthcare education, particularly through its College of Osteopathic Medicine?the first medical school in Indiana to open in over 100 years. The campus features a mix of historic and modern buildings, including the recently constructed Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences, and maintains an environmental restoration area known as the Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab. While maintaining comprehensive liberal arts offerings, Marian has established itself in nursing education, business, and education programs, with all undergraduate students required to live on campus for their first two years. The university competes in the NAIA's Crossroads League, with its cycling team having earned multiple national championships.
