Indiana University Southeast, a regional campus of the Indiana University system, is located in New Albany, Indiana, directly across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky. The suburban 180-acre campus features modern academic buildings and wooded areas on elevated terrain overlooking the Ohio River valley. Established in 1941 as an extension center before becoming a full-fledged IU campus in 1968, IU Southeast serves primarily commuter students from southern Indiana and the greater Louisville metropolitan area. The institution offers undergraduate and select master's degrees, with notable programs in business, education, and nursing, while maintaining smaller class sizes typical of regional campuses. While most students commute, the campus includes five lodge-style residence halls that house a portion of the student population.
