Alumnus
I chose WIU because it was fairly close to my home in Burlington (IA) and when analyzing its cost, even when considering I would be paying out-of-state tuition rates, I thought it was still a very good value for the cost. Are there less expensive schools? Yes, certainly, but the College of Business had a good reputation and a good, broad selection of courses from which to choose. Finally, I have ascertained that a whole bunch of employers don't really care about what school you attended, or your GPA. As one HR Director said to me "The institution's name on the sheepskin (diploma) isn't as critical as your performance once in the job. The diploma merely tells us (the company) you are (1) trainable, and (2) you don't quit. #2 meaning when it got tough in school (predominately referring to academics), you hung in there. You crossed the finish line and graduated The diploma tells everyone you are not a quitter. Once I started attending classes, I found it easy to assimilate. In addition, the campus was small enough to easily walk to all my classes. Class sizes were small which contributed not only to our educational development, but socialization growth as well. I'd recommend WIU to anyone.
