Lake Land College is a public community college located in Mattoon, Illinois, approximately 180 miles south of Chicago and 45 miles south of Champaign-Urbana. The main campus spans 308 acres in a rural setting, featuring modern academic facilities and a network of walking paths through prairie restoration areas. Established in 1966, Lake Land serves a nine-county district in east-central Illinois and offers more than 150 degree and certificate programs, with particular emphasis on agricultural sciences, allied health, and technical education. The college maintains extensive workforce development partnerships with regional employers and operates additional learning centers in surrounding communities, including Effingham and Marshall. Campus facilities include technical training labs, a student center, and the Field House athletic complex, where the Lakers compete in NJCAA Division I athletics.
