The University of Central Florida (UCF), located in Orlando, is one of the largest universities by enrollment in the United States, with a diverse and extensive range of undergraduate and graduate academic programs, including prominent hospitality, business, education, and engineering programs. Founded in 1963 with the intent to provide talent for the U.S. space program, UCF stands out for its research facilities and initiatives in fields such as optics and lasers, modeling and simulation, digital media, and space sciences. As a relatively selective institution, UCF admits students through a competitive application process. The metropolitan campus, characterized by contemporary architecture and a variety of student housing options, is situated in a subtropical urban environment, providing access to numerous professional and cultural opportunities within the growing Orlando region.

In the most recent statistical year 54,977 prospective students applied, and 22,560 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 7,515 enrolled in the school.  45,857 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 22,489 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $4,478 plus fees of $1,890.
