Wesleyan University is a private liberal arts college located in Middletown, Connecticut, approximately 16 miles south of Hartford. Established in 1831, the institution offers a diverse liberal arts curriculum and is known for its interdisciplinary approach to education. Wesleyan's campus is set on around 360 acres, featuring predominantly Collegiate Gothic architecture and providing on-campus housing options for students, including residential colleges. The university is known for being highly selective and offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with notable strength in the arts and sciences. It has a distinguished history in the film studies program and a strong emphasis on writing across all disciplines. Though not primarily known for its athletic teams, Wesleyan competes in the NCAA Division III as the Cardinals and is a part of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).
