The University of Denver, located near the heart of Denver, Colorado, is a private institution that combines a liberal arts ethos with major research endeavors. Established in 1864, it's the oldest independent private university in the Rocky Mountain Region of the United States. The campus, known for its Richardsonian Romanesque architecture, covers 125 acres and offers a scenic environment complemented by the nearby Rocky Mountains. The University enrolls a diverse student body and provides a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, with notable strengths in business, international studies, and psychology. Housing is provided for students with the majority of undergraduates living on campus. The University of Denver maintains a selective admissions process. Athletically, the university is recognized for its notable men's ice hockey team, known as the Denver Pioneers, which competes in NCAA Division I.
