Housing is absolutely terrible, but I love the atmosphere. It is pretty pricy

I've had a great experience as a student. The class sizes and caliber of instructors are generally good and provide more assistance and grace than larger public universities and even jr. colleges. It depends on the program and area of study, but overall I have gotten more out of the course load here that are practical applications of knowledge than other programs I have been a part of (as a former UC student). The smaller atmosphere helps and they provide some opportunities for networking and career paths. While it is expensive as it's a private school, there is generally smaller class sizes which help for individualized attention. I would recommend Vanguard to students that want a smaller college experience and who are ok with a faith-based program.
