Orange Coast College (OCC) is a public community college located in Costa Mesa, California, just a few miles from the Southern California coastline and within proximity to the urban amenities of Los Angeles. Established in 1947, OCC occupies a 164-acre suburban campus known for its blend of modern and traditional architecture, including the striking Technology Center. The college offers over 135 academic and career programs, with notable emphasis on its marine science, sailing, and aeronautics programs. Selectivity for admission is considered noncompetitive, as OCC maintains an open-enrollment policy typical of community colleges. Student housing is not traditionally offered on campus, promoting a commuter atmosphere, although a new residence hall opened in fall 2020 to accommodate those seeking an on-campus living experience. While OCC does not emphasize a prominent athletics program in the context of national leagues, it does engage students in a variety of competitive sports as the Pirates, fostering recreational and competitive opportunities within community college networks.
Orange Coast College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student. 6,500 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 10,114 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $1,104 plus fees of $98.
