Orange Coast College is a public community college located in Costa Mesa, California, situated in Orange County approximately 40 miles south of Los Angeles. The 164-acre suburban campus, established in 1947 on a former Army base, features modern academic facilities alongside preserved architectural elements from its military past. OCC operates one of the largest and most comprehensive community college transfer programs in Southern California, with notable strengths in business, aviation, marine science, and allied health programs. The college maintains several specialized facilities, including a planetarium, a working marine center with docks at Newport Harbor, and an aviation training complex at John Wayne Airport. While primarily serving commuter students, the campus includes modern athletic facilities where teams compete in the Orange Empire Conference of the California Community College Athletic Association.
