Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC) is a public, two-year community college located in the city of Los Angeles, California, proximate to the metropolitan area of South Los Angeles. Founded in 1967 with the intent to serve the African-American community during the aftermath of the Watts Riots, LASC has since expanded its mission to cater to a diverse student population. The college?s urban campus provides a range of academic programs with a strong emphasis on liberal arts, sciences, and vocational education designed to prepare students for transfer to four-year universities or entry into the workforce. Notably, LASC offers popular programs in areas like nursing, child development, and administration of justice. While the college does not provide on-campus housing, it serves a significant commuter population. LASC maintains an open admissions policy, which does not require a competitive application process. The college does not highlight an athletic program as a central component of its campus identity.

Los Angeles Southwest College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  542 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 4,371 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $1,196 plus fees of $42.

Los Angeles Southwest College is designated as a Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) and receives federal grants supporting the school's efforts to serve low and middle-income Black Americans.
