Gavilan College is a public community college located in Gilroy, California, approximately 30 miles south of San Jose in the Santa Clara Valley. The main campus occupies 150 acres of rolling terrain in the foothills of the Gavilan mountains, featuring modern classroom buildings and athletic facilities that serve both the Gilroy community and surrounding areas of San Benito and southern Santa Clara counties. Established in 1919 as San Benito County Junior College before relocating to its current site in 1967, Gavilan offers associate degrees and certificates in career technical education, transfer preparation programs, and basic skills education. The college maintains strong programs in allied health, particularly its nursing program, along with computer science and digital media, while also operating satellite centers in Morgan Hill and Hollister to serve a broader student population.
