California State University-Channel Islands (CSUCI), located in Camarillo and proximate to the vibrant city of Los Angeles, is a public university established in 2002. Nestled within a coastal environment, the campus boasts Spanish colonial architecture and offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, with notable emphasis on liberal arts, sciences, and teacher education. Despite being one of the newer campuses in the California State University system, CSUCI provides a range of academic services and has developed a reputation for an inclusive and student-centered approach to higher education. The application process at CSUCI is moderately selective. On-campus housing is available, accommodating a substantial portion of the student body and contributing to the residential character of the institution. While CSUCI does not have a high-profile athletic program, it fosters a diverse array of student activities and learning experiences.

In the most recent statistical year 10,420 prospective students applied, and 9,342 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 635 enrolled in the school.  4,468 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 1,660 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $5,742 plus fees of $1,075.
