The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is a public research university located in Alaska's largest city, Anchorage, offering a blend of urban and wild experiences. Founded in 1954, UAA became a four-year university in 1971 and is now the largest in the University of Alaska System. It provides a comprehensive suite of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs across its campuses. Notably, UAA is recognized for its emphases in health sciences, aviation, and engineering programs. The campus features a modern architectural aesthetic interspersed with natural landscapes and provides on-campus housing options. UAA's application process is considered moderately selective. While athletics are a component of campus life, they are not a dominant focus; however, the institution competes in NCAA Division II sports as the Seawolves.
