Alaska Pacific University sits on a 175-acre wooded campus in northeast Anchorage, Alaska's largest city. Originally founded in 1960 as Alaska Methodist University, the private liberal arts institution maintains close ties to the United Methodist Church while operating as a nonsectarian university. The campus, featuring modern academic buildings integrated into the surrounding boreal forest, provides direct access to outdoor recreational opportunities and serves as a base for the university's signature environmental studies and outdoor education programs.
