Utah Valley University (UVU) is a public institution located in Orem, Utah, situated 45 miles south of Salt Lake City along the Wasatch Front mountain range. The campus spans 228 acres at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains, featuring modern academic facilities and the UCCU Events Center as its centerpiece. Originally established in 1941 as a vocational school, UVU evolved through several iterations before achieving university status in 2008, making it the largest public university in the state by enrollment. The university maintains an open admissions policy and offers programs ranging from certificates to master's degrees, with notable strengths in aviation, business, computer science, and dental hygiene. While primarily a commuter campus, UVU provides limited on-campus housing options in the Wolverine Village apartment complex, and competes in NCAA Division I athletics as a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
