Established in 1850, the University of Utah is a public research university located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The campus is set against the backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains, incorporating design elements characteristic of the Southwest and featuring red sandstone buildings, a reflection of nearby Red Butte Canyon's natural geology. Academically, the University of Utah is known for its research-intensive programs, including those in medicine, engineering, and business.
