Texas College is a private, historically black college located in Tyler, Texas, approximately 95 miles east of Dallas. Founded in 1894 by a group of CME ministers, the institution offers undergraduate degrees across 14 programs, with particular emphasis on the liberal arts, humanities, natural and social sciences, and education. The campus exhibits vernacular architectural styles with facilities that cater to both academic and residential needs, including on-campus housing options. Texas College contributes to a diverse and inclusive atmosphere with a moderately selective admissions process, which reflects its commitment to nurturing student potential across various backgrounds. While it does not boast a high-profile athletic program, Texas College maintains several athletic teams known as the Steers, competing in the NAIA and the Red River Athletic Conference.
