SUNY Westchester Community College occupies a 218-acre former estate in Valhalla, New York, approximately 25 miles north of New York City. The suburban campus features a mix of modern academic buildings and the original Hartford family mansion, which now serves as an administration building. Established in 1946 as the New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences, the college became part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system in 1948. The two-year public institution offers over 60 associate degree and certificate programs, with strong emphasis in business, health sciences, liberal arts, and technical fields. The campus operates as a commuter college, serving primarily local students from Westchester County and surrounding areas, while maintaining transfer agreements with numerous four-year institutions throughout the region.
